Summer Youth Olympics उद्घाटन समारोह 6 अक्टूबर को Buenos Aires, Argentina में शुरू हुआ और 18 अक्टूबर को समाप्त होना है। 15 से 18 वर्ष की आयु के हजारों एथलीट खेलों में हिस्सा लेंगे।

Saturday, October 6, 2018 को Google Doodle, Buenos Aires, Argentina में 200 से अधिक देशों ने भाग लिया और कई युवा एथलीटों ने अपने करियर की शुरूआत की है। इस आयोजन में 15-18 आयु वर्ग के हजारों एथलीटों को विभिन्न श्रेणियों में प्रतिस्पर्धा दिखाई देगी।
पेश किए गए नए खेल में kiteboarding, BMX freestyle park, और समुद्र तट पर खेला जाने वाला handball का एक नया संस्करण शामिल है। Football को futsal द्वारा प्रतिस्थापित किया गया है – an indoor game will be played on a smaller hard court.
यह पहली बार है Summer Youth Olympic Games एशिया के बाहर आयोजित किया जा रहा है और गर्मी या सर्दियों के लिए यूरेशिया के बाहर होने वाले पहले युवा खेलों के लिए आयोजित किया जा रहा है। पिछले दो गर्मियों की घटनाएं सिंगापुर (2010) और नानजिंग, चीन (2014) में आयोजित की गई थी।
47 एथलीटों द्वारा भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया जाएगा at the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina across 13 sports (37 disciplines).इस दल में ISSF वरिष्ठ और कनिष्ठ विश्व कप चैंपियन Manu Bhaker, Commonwealth Games medallist shooter Mehuli Ghosh, world youth boxing champion Jyoti Gulia and world youth silver medalist Jeremy Lalrinunga in weightlifting को वेटलिफ्टिंग में शामिल किया गया है।
